First to realise the potential of Bath in Somerset as a spa destination was of course the Romans and many Roman structures in the city remain to this day. Renowned for its incredible architecture it is then the Georgian period in history which has left its legacy on what is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities. Situated with terrific views over the city from Landsdown Hill is Bath Racecourse, one of the lesser known delights of the city but no less attractive for that.

Free Horse Racing Tips, Click Here! The lush green downland which forms the surface for Bath racing is perfectly suited to the flat races which are hosted at the course. The quality of the track is perhaps surprising given it is the highest flat racing course in the country, at 780 feet above sea level, and that it is unique in having no watering system.

This is the delight of Bath racing; where everything seems to come together naturally to provide for some wonderful horseracing.

The track itself is oval in shape with long straights, perfect for those long-striding gallopers which so dominate flat racing fixtures. Tight bends and a long uphill home straight ensure close finishes too for many races, often with a dramatic and thrilling chase to the line.

Highlights of the Bath racing calendar include the Dick Hern and Landsdown Fillies’ Stakes but all races are well attended by residents of Bath and visitors alike.
